Liberal Studies Requirements. A student majoring in Women's and Gender Studies (WGS) is required to complete the Capstone offered by the WGS Department. Students who choose to take an experiential learning course offered by the major may count it either as a general elective or the experiential learning requirement.
Contemporary feminist research and innovative, experiential learning are given equal weight to make the Women's Studies major at Portland State complex, challenging, and relevant. The option is designed for students who have a strong interest in learning about key debates and theoretical concepts central to WGS and for students that plan to major in WGS or related fields at four-year institutions.
